CHRONOLOGICAL NOTES

This issue continues directly from last issue's cliffhanger, as the X-Men are attacked while looking for Sentinel HQ.

Professor X says that he's been training the X-Men for years. This could be a topical reference to real /publishing time, but I also have the handily vague time period in which the male X-Men were training with Xavier before X-Men (1963) #1 to work with.

Here we get a short origin of the Beast, as he is interrogated by the Master Mold. His father was an atomic worker, who was affected by radiation before the Beast was born. After his dad lost his job and they moved to another city, Hank was picked on by the other kids for his physique, and discovered that he had great agility. After his display of power, the other kids began to fear him.
The details above fit in really well with the discrepancy between Beast being born in Illinois, but his family being said to live in New York: they moved! Nice and simple.

More details of the Beast's origin: he won a college scholarship, his unnatural football prowess caught Professor X's attention, and he was recruited into the X-Men.
Hank celebrates winning the conference championship. As I understand it, the college football season in the 1960s ran from late September to early December, so I guess this game is happening in December. I currently have X-Men (1963) #1 placed in January of XY 0, so Hank either joins about a month before Jean, or a little over a year before.
COUNTING THE DAYS
